Mythbuster: i’ve A gpa that is high and score so I’m positively getting into USC

The Myth: The rest of the application does not matter if I have A gpa that is high and shmoop write my essay for me score.

The Verdict: Nope.

‘It’s exactly about the numbers’ generally seems to unfortunately be something I hear a serious bit when folks talk about college admission. I am made by it unfortunate because that is completely false when speaing frankly about the admission procedure at USC. pupils, counselors and parents have a tendency to get very anxious about GPAs and test scores.

GPAs and test scores are important, however they aren’t the only deciding factor in a pupil’s admission decision. Students signing up to USC will be automatically admitted never nor denied based entirely on GPA and test scores.

Our company is to know a learning pupil the very best we possibly can through the admission procedure. GPAs and test ratings help us determine how well you do academically, but we also want to access know you beyond that. We should learn about the method that you invest your time outside regarding the classroom. We are interested in learning your personality and the life experiences you may possibly have had up until this point. We wish to learn why you are interested in going to college at USC. You want to learn from your teachers or counselors their perspective on who you are as student and human being. We can’t get all that information from just a GPA and a test score.

For this reason we do not have a cutoff for GPAs and test scores. We want to make sure you have the educational preparation to achieve success at USC, but that can be determined in a lot of ways. We evaluate your transcript although we calculate your GPA. What type of classes may be the learning pupil taking? Is the learning student challenging herself into the context of exactly what can be acquired at her school? How exactly does this relate genuinely to her standard testing? There is not A gpa that is magic and rating combination to determine all this.

Admission to USC is competitive. They are numerous, many qualified students who are applying to USC. We don’t have spots for them all in our incoming course. We utilize qualitative components such as task summaries, essays, and letters of recommendations to make distinctions among our numerous excellent candidates.

Whenever we wanted, we could take the greatest GPAs and test ratings and acknowledge those students. If we did that, we would admit a completely different course compared to one we just enrolled. I also would n’t have job must be computer could do that. Our admission process is a human being one, and we are looking to bring a class that is well-rounded USC. We aim for this using your application that is entire to as much as we can in regards to you.

A high GPA and test rating is not a ticket that is golden admission at USC. We get beyond the true numbers, and we hope you do too in the job.

Hello from the other side….

Interviews…another part of the college application process. We’re currently completing our interviews that are on-campus the end of November (Thanksgiving excluded.) You may also see us performing interviews in towns and cities in your area throughout the United States. At this time along the way, it’s possible you’ve already been through a college that is few, and I’m sure at the end you left with either emotions of success, dissatisfaction, excitement or an assortment of other adjectives that may describe the uncertainty that is a meeting. Hopefully I’m able to give you a little insight into that which we are thinking during those 30 minutes.

Our interviews generally last around 25 minutes and we as admission counselors, spend afternoons, from 1:30 pm until 4:30 pm, interviewing around five pupils. So, exactly what’s actually going through our minds when we sit down over the table from you? Well, that largely varies according to you…

Are you visibly nervous? Perspiring? About to break down in tears? If the answer is yes, then I am most likely hoping that I am able to allow you to calm down. I am going to generally begin with questions that have clear cut answers: Tell me exactly what classes you might be taking this semester…What book are you reading in English right now? Students do not have to consider these concerns, they already have the answers. Hopefully, this can help the person calm down, and we could have a relaxed conversation. If this been there as well, don’t worry, you are not the only one. Most of that time period students feel at ease pretty quickly when they realize the true nature of the interview. The ideas that are main make an effort to extract from students are the following: 1) performs this person know why they are applying to USC? Is there something particular they’ve seen here that is of interest to them? 2) Can this learning student think critically? Can they answer a question that requires though or may possibly not have an obvious response? 3) Are they confident in their abilities and are they sure they are able to succeed at USC? College is difficult so we want individuals who wish to be here.

The majority that is vast of interviews get smoothly with really few bumps into the road. There are of course moments when we repeat myself because we can not remember if I’ve asked question with this interview, or the one right before it. Therefore in advance, please forgive me if I ask you the same question twice. My goal during an interview is to find a conversation that is solid so it feel less like an interview, and more like one person hoping to get to learn another. So just come with an open mind, greet us with excitement (hopefully genuine), and every thing will get smoothly.
